W. Mander Quality Still Life Oil Painting Flowers

We are offering for sale this beautifully executed oil on panel by the artist W. Mander, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner. The painting depicts a vaes of flowers on a ledge, very much in the Dutch old master style of Jan van Huysum, complete with the drops of dew on the leaves and petals. There are gladioli, lillies, roses, and hydrangeas in abundance.
Jan van Huysum also spelled Huijsum (15 April 1682 – 8 February 1749), was a Dutch Painter. He was the brother of Jacob van Juysum, the son of the flower painter Justus van Huysum, and the grandson of Jan van Huysum I. Some of the finest of van Huysum's fruit and flower pieces have been in English private collections: those of 1723 in the Earl of Ellesmere's gallery, others of 1730-1732 in the collections of Hope and Ashburton. One of the best examples is now in the National Gallery, London (1736–1737). No public museum has finer and more numerous specimens than the Louvre, which boasts of four landscapes and six panels with still life then come Berlin and Amsterdam with four fruit and flower pieces then St Petersburg, Munich, Hanover, Dresden, the Hague, Brunswick, Vienna, Carlsruhe, Boston and Copenhagen. Van Huysum had several followers, such as Jan van Os and Johannes de Bosch.
We have been unable to find any information about the artist, who is, obviously, not to be confused with the landscape painter William Henry Mander. However, we did find a portrait of a lady in an evening gown by this artist, which had been at auction in 2019.
The painting is framed in a very nice, 2 5/8" swept, mottled, gilt frame. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang
Image size: 23 1/2" x 19 1/2" - 59.7cm x 49.5cm
Frame size: 29" x 25" - 73.65cm x 63.5cm
Medium: Oils on panel
Condition: Excellent. There is no damage, paint loss or craquelure. The frame is in very good condition with some slight cracking but appears to be quite stable with no losses.
