Walnut Arts & Crafts 6 Point Star Mirror

Having a triangular bevelled mirror and three demi lune turned brackets, the original plate glass has some minor foxing, though this and the whole both remain in original condition, making this mirror an exciting example. There are two fixing points for the mirror to hang from, one either side of the north point whilst the three plinths are well turned, with a nice patina and would make for good candle supports as intended.
The arts and crafts movement takes the natural forms found outside in the woods, gardens, oceans and skies and uses them to decorate the inside of our homes, just as this mirror does today. Stars were used as motifs in arts and crafts ware, though not as common as say, the heart, establishments such as Liberty used the star as stretchers on antique tables or fret cut into the flanks of antique furniture being just two examples.
This is a highly idiosyncratic piece that demands ones attention, just as a well-seasoned actor would on the boards it takes centre stage wherever it hangs.
