Watercolour Portrait Girl Medieval Dress Signed MD

We are offering for sale this attractive Watercolour Portrait by a monogrammist artist, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner MD or, possibly, DM. We have checked our monogram dictionary and cannot find this particular monogram, so, unfortunately, can give no information on the artist, whoever he or she may be.
The painting depicts an attractive young lady wearing mediaeval dress, with a bejewelled tiara like crown upon her head, beneath which she has a pink fabric veil. She has two thick flaxen plaits and is wearing a high-necked dress of a paler hue than her veil.
The Whatman's Sketching Board that the watercolour was painted on, was supplied by a company of Artists' Colourmen called James Lanham, Ltd. who maintained a shop and gallery in St. Ives Cornham. The Company became Limited in 1907, so this dates the painting to after that date, also born out by the Whatman Board used. It is likely that the artist was Cornish, or living in Cornwall from the Newlyn/St. Ives artists' colony.
The watercolour has been newly double mounted in two-tone acid-free mountboard and is newly framed in a 1 1/4" gilt frame. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
Image size: 8 5/8" x 6 1/2" - 21.85cm x 16.5cm
Frame size: 16 3/8" x 14 1/8" - 41.6cm x 35.85cm
Medium: Watercolours on Winsor & Newton, Ltd. Whatman's Sketching Board Rough Surface.
Condition: Very good. There is no foxing or fading and the mounts and frame are new.
