Welsh Bookcase Kitchen Display. Victorian mahogany bookcase %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Good looking mahogany bookcase or kitchen display c.1850. Known locally as a cwpwrdd gwydr, this was a type created by North Wales cabinet makers in the mid 19th.c. as they updated the traditional Welsh dresser. Typical of the form it has a glazed top and cupboard base each with two working doors either side of a fixed centre panel plus a single long drawer in the waist. The flared cornice, applied door panels, bobbin turned columns and tall feet are all original vernacular details. In very good, unrestored condition. Keys supplied.
