Welsh Mahogany Longcase Clock


DAVID HARRIS, SWANSEA Circa. 1860
A Welsh oak and mahogany crossbanded longcase clock. A swan-neck hood pediment with brass patterae and central finial. Brass capped hood columns and mahogany chamfered trunk sides. An attractive arched painted dial with a seaside scene to the arch and country scenes and a waterfall to the corners. Date and seconds indicators. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
David Harris of Swansea is recorded in Peates' 'Clock and Watchmakers in Wales' book as working from 1840-1887.
