Whytock & Reid Folio Cabinet Whytock Reid Edinburgh
Circa 1920, wonderful two door folio cabinet by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh with the style of Sir Robert Lorimer. The cabinet has a tapered top and crossbanded fore edge. Below the top are two shaped and curved doors with matching veneers with a heraldic panel in the centre which is crossbanded in walnut and has a burr elm centre piece. There is a single lock with a mother of pearl escutcheon in the form of a heart. The doors are crossbanded and have stylish cast brass hinges. The inside of the door is again veneered in sections with root wood veneers on both sides. There are thirteen shelves all in solid oak which slide forward, held in position in recesses and all have small pull handles at the front. The gables of the cabinet are inlaid in the same format as the doors, with a curved top and matching veneers throughout. At the base is a shaped apron which is dipped in the centre, and the piece stands on four elegant classic Whytock & Reid/Lorimer feet. The cabinet is made in walnut and solid oak. Fantastic colour and condition.

Size 178cm high x 85cm wide x 55cm deep.
