A rare and wonderful pair of 1930's Art Deco ash trays/bookends designed and handpainted by Mabel V Hodgkiss for William Bennett. She was a student at the Burslem School of Art and joined William Bennett specifically to design and hand paint in the style of Clarice Cliff and Myott. These items are now extremely hard to find and this pair are in exceptional condition for their age with no damage or restoration guaranteed. Bright, bold colours and a rich honeyglaze. There are no chips, cracks or nibbles. The paintwork is excellent with just a few minute paint and glaze spots. Some very light crazing to the base. These Willam Bennett/Mabel Hodgkiss garniature style pieces are very hard to find and highly sought after.
