William Nickeson of Newcastle-under-Lyme .


Here is a fine longcase clock by William Nickeson of Newcastle-under-Lyme (Staffordshire) . William was in business from 1787-1826 and this 8 day example is very typical of the antique clocks he produced .
The fine painted dial is by Wilson of Birmingham and has an attractive rolling moon to the arch . The 8 day movement is in very good condition and steel hands are original .
The Case is typical for the Staffordshire area and is mainly oak with mahogany trim and the polished finish is in original condition .The base has a panel with mahogany cross banding and attractive cantered corners also in mahogany. Standing on bracket feet . Long slim oak door to the trunk with mahogany reeded pilasters. The hood with a swan necked pediment.
