Winsor and Newton Artist's Watercolour / Paint Box


A delightful late Victorian watercolour / Artist's paint box made from Mahogany with a flush brass campaign handle to the drawer and a shaped inlaid escutcheon above which houses the original working key.
The interior of the lid has a wonderful gold printed label and a complimentary label on the base of the front section where brushes would be stored. The box dates to c.1885, Winsor and Newton became a Ltd company in 1881. The Royal Warrant was prominent, Queen Victoria awarded Winsor & Newton their first Royal warrant in 1841 and the endorsement has been received ever since. Today Winsor & Newton remains by Appointment to HRH the Prince of Wales.
The interior is fully fitted with a small ceramic palette in the top and a larger on in the drawer below, both original and signed by Winsor and Newton, London.
Excellent condition measuring 9" x 7" x 3" tall.
