WMF Art Nouveau Copper Claret Jug
We have for sale a very striking copper and brass WMF lidded claret jug.
This claret jug is of a art nouveau conical truncated form extending to an angular brass handle and beak like spout along with a beautifully fitting copper lid terminating and featuring copper a brass thumb plate. The body of the jug is attractively decorated with copper rivets and base of the claret jug carries the WMF Ostrich mark. The piece looks very much as if it were designed for WMF by Carl Deffner (c1900-1910), the excellent German metalware manufacturer based in Esslingen.
The claret jug is 10 inches (25.5cm) high and 4.7 inches (12cm) in diameter at its base. The jug is in a very good antique condition, as is the well constructed hinge to the lid, however the jug does carry a few small surface indentations commensurate with its age.
