Writing desk / Secretaire
Beautiful French Rosewood and marquetry desk / secretaire with ormolu mounts, C1880.
This secretaire is in excellent condition and has a good antique patina. The gilded mounts are bright, the legs are sturdy and the entire cabinet is a mellow colour.
There are 3 inlaid drawers with gilded key plates. The writing fall is inlaid with exotic veneers of floral marquetry, and when down in the writing position, is completely level and firm. Internally there are 3 rosewood veneered drawers and a stationary area above.
The rouge marble top is fixed in position and has an ancient repair at the back. The rear of the cabinet is solid oak and is clean. A really lovely antique Secretaire.
