Description

A woodcarving by Faust Lang, born in Oberamergau in 1887. The piece was probably carved in his youth as a souvenir of an Oberamergau Pasion Play prior to WW1.
Faust moved from Germany to England in 1934 where his animal designs were used by "Wades" for now much sought after figurines. He was reknown for his religeous carvings seen today in several Cornish churches and he has exhibited at The Royal Academy for Arts and The Medici Gallery. Faust died in 1973.
