Description

Here we have for sale a beautiful early Victorian English rare provincial silver fiddle pattern shovel caddy spoon. This spoon has a wonderful bright cut decoration to the handle terminating with a shield with monogrammed with letter C. This piece is unusual as it has a bright cut decoration (on the reverse side of the bowl) with a floral decoration, rarely seen on a caddy spoon additionally the provincial hallmark makes it unusual and collectable.

Silversmith: David Reid of Reid of Sons (Established 1778)

Assay office: Newcastle (closed in 1884)

Year of manufacture: 1856

Length: 13 cm

Weight: 11 grams

Condition report: In excellent condition for its age (164 years) with surface scratches and tarnish marks and a slight dint to bowl, a beautiful example.

This is a beautiful and collectable piece of English provincial silver and will be a stunning addition to your silverware collection.
