Description

Here we have for sale this exquisite fine quality late Victorian silver Art Nouveau repousse decorated silver cream jug.

This silver creamer has a patterned pierced border, a repousse rose decoration banded around the middle of the jug accompanied by a crimped rim. The jug is further embellished with a scroll handle and a dainty upturned spout, the interior still has its original gilt wash finish.

The detailing of this rose patterned decoration is vivid and beautiful. The multitude of repousse and pierced patterns are sophisticated and striking, creating an attractive, elegant finish. The elegance this jug exudes is important because it would have been used for a small strawberries and cream tea for the English aristocracy.
