Here we have for sale this iconic hand painted ‘Spring Crocus’ Art Deco Clarice Cliff side plate fully stamped to the base. This Clarice Cliff ‘Crocus’ design is so important that it is featured Victoria and Albert Museum collection, London. The Crocus pattern was Clarice Cliff’s signature design. This is the later gold stamped example.

Condition Report

Age related wear such as yellowing, no evidence of crazing, cracks or chips, so is therefore in excellent overall condition for its approximate 80 year age. There are some firing faults on the underside of the plate, see photos. The glazing still seems smooth and sleek - an exceptionally good example of a Crocus pattern Clarice Cliff Plate. Please check the photos carefully as this forms part of the condition report. Due to the fact that the pieces are handpainted the colour application is not identical across the spring crocus side plates and thus there are inconsistencies as a the plates were painted by a range of paintresses in the factory.

This beautiful plate would make a wonderful Birthday, Christmas present, Anniversary present or gift for a loved one or a would make a fabulous addition to any ceramics or Clarice Cliff pottery collection.
