Description
Retirement Sale, sale price £325.0018th Century Heraldic Crest. Spes Infracta.
This interesting crest is painted on an Oak panel which has been attached to a small Oak door in the 19th century. The crest itself has the latin Spes Infracta which translates to My hope is unbroken.
The main body of the crest features, on one half there is a diagonal band with 3 buckles, the other side has a red stags head, a horizontal black band & above that there are 2 stars with 5 points & a crescent moon. Above the crest we have dis-masted sailing ship in rough waters. The ship flies a red flag.
There is a thin red border line to the top & both sides.
One photograph has been taken in sunlight to show the colours.
We have not cleaned the panel.
Condition original paint with a few age related marks.
