Description

Description: Ancient oil painting on copper "Ramino" depicting a religious scene "Noli me tangere" belonging to the early 18th century.

Noli me tangere is a Latin phrase that can be translated into Italian as "Do not touch me". It comes from the Gospel according to John. It was Jesus, resurrected, who said the phrase to Mary Magdalene who, shocked by his death, wandered near the tomb. The woman, at first, mistook Jesus for the guardian of the tomb.
