Description

Description: Gouache is the name of the painting technique, a picture painted with gouache watercolor, a French word derived from the Italian “guazzo” or guàdo.

The gouache palette is made up of a little water thickened with eight colors: ivory black, cobalt blue, raw umber, burnt sienna, cadmium red, emerald green, Naples yellow or yellow ochre, zinc white.

Diluted colors, vegetable glues, pigments a mysterious concoction that every author of this genre keeps secret.

Seen from a certain distance, the painting resembles an oil painting.

Ours depicts a view of Naples seen from Via Marina, with the fishing village in the foreground and the Posillipo hill in the background.

Corresponding to a contemporary Empire frame in gilded and carved wood.
