Description

Taracea- Spanish marquetry work made with bone and tropical hardwood. A very time consuming not to mention skillful piece of work. This cabinet along with a matching table and four chairs were made around 1900, they are in perfect condition. The chairs may have been re upholstered at some time.
The cabinet is in two parts, the total height is 187cms, 75cms wide, 48cms Deep, and the table is 55cms diameter.This set was made in Granada, Spain where they specialised in Taracea, each piece is made of bone or ebony and put into place individually. Granada was the last Muslim stronghold in Spain and it is reflected in these pieces of furniture.
