An Arts and Crafts four piece polished bronze desk set consisting of a cast double ink well and pen tray Hinged covers over removable original porcelain ink well, desk weight/blotter, letter opener and matchbox stand, This is a truly organic swept form, with simple square decorative embellishment repeated on all four elements either as a 'punch mark' or as a pierce. All the bodies are a combination of the plain polished surface and the hammered textured decorative style, popular in all the arts and crafts centres of the UK, Europe and the USA . This attractive and decorative antique desk set is made from pressed and embossed brass sheet, the ink wells have ceramic liners.

The set is best described as 'Jugendstil', and is a European wide patented design ( stamped both 'depose' and 'Geschutzt', covering France and Austria/Germany). Jugendstil style was primarily the German version of Art Nouveau, a style in the Decorative Arts that was linked to the Austrian Secessionist Movement.

The ink well and pen tray is 300 mm long and has a width of 180 mm and 50mm high, the letter opener is 250 mm long. The set weighs a total of 1.585kg.

The set is in excellent condition, there are no issues to report.
