Description

This is a stylish, good quality Art Deco Four Piece Silver Plated Tea Set from the 1920s / 30s. The set consists of a teapot, a hot water jug, a cream jug and a sugar bowl. All the pieces are round with line detail to rims. The teapot and hot water jug have dark bakelite handles and finials so that you don't burn your hands when their contents are hot.

The set is made in Sheffield by Travis Wilson & Co as part of their Manor Plate range. Travis Wilson took over this trade name in 1926 and continued with it up until the Second World War alongside their Manor Period Pewter range. The firm was taken over in the 1950s and became specialist pewter makers.

Condition is extremely good with no dings or dents and no significant plate loss and virtually no staining to the inside of the teapot and hot water jug. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The teapot is 24.7cm / 9.7ins from spout to handle, 14cm / 5.5ins across and 13.5cm / 5.3ins high. The hot water jug is 18cm / 7.1ins from lip to handle, 10.3cm / 4ins across and 17.6cm / 6.9ins high. The cream jug is 12.5cm / 4.9ins from lip to handle, 7.8cm / 3.1ins across and 9.8cm / 3.8ins high. The sugar bowl is 15.3cm / 6ins from handle to handle, 10cm / 3.9ins across and 8.1cm / 3.2ins high. All together the set weighs 1,267g / 44.7oz.

All four pieces are marked on the undersides of the bases with Manor Plate, T.W & Co Ltd, Sheffield and the product number 486.
