Description

Here we have a very stylish pair of Art Deco Silver Plate Serving or Entree Dishes. The dishes are rectangular in shape. The bottom halves are plain whilst the upper halves have line decoration and two horizontal Odeon style shell handles. They can either be used as a pair of covered dishes or as four individual open dishes. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The dishes are by the world famous firm of Mappin & Webb, one of the most important names in British silverware and electroplate. They are in their Prince's Plate range, which was their highest quality silver plate. The dishes date to the late 1920s / early 1930s.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss, a few spots to the interior and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with the passage of time. They remain completely usable today. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each dish measures 25.5cm / 10ins by 16.7cm / 6.6ins and they stand 6.8cm/ 2.7ins high. The two dishes together weigh in at 2.24kg / 79oz.

The undersides of the bases are clearly marked for Mappin & Webb's Prince's Plate along with their date letter n, which gives us a date in the late 1920s / early 1930s.

Shipping in the UK is £15 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which covers the weight of the dishes and insurance for their value.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
