Arts & Crafts 9ct Gold, Ruby & Pearl Brooch, 1902

Description
Here we have a striking Edwardian 9ct Yellow Gold, Ruby and Seed Pearl brooch in a period box. The brooch has a central heart decorated with six rubies and eight seed pearls in an Arts & Crafts style bar setting. The brooch is made by jeweller and goldsmith Henry Cook and assayed in Chester in 1902. Henry Cook specialised in brooches and crosses made out of either gold or silver, sometimes plain and sometimes decorated with gemstones. He was based in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter from 1872 until the early 1900s. Liking many Birmingham makers he sent some of his items to the Chester assay office to be hallmarked.
Condition is good with just a small dent to the back of the brooch which is barely visible from the front. The pin is in good working order and the small rubies and seed pearls are securely attached. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The brooch is 3.7cm wide and 1.1cm high. It weighs in (unboxed) at 2.5g.
The hallmarks, on the back of the brooch are a little rubbed but still easy to read. On one side of the heart are the stamps 9 and .375 to show that it is 9ct gold, the sword and three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester and the cursive date letter B for 1902. On the other side of the heart is the H C makers' mark for Henry Cook.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the brooch.
