Description

An elegant Mid-Century silver plated four sconce candle holder from the 1960s/70s by A.P. Berg of Denmark. The candle holder has four arms, each mounted by a sconce, extending from a central hexagonal pillar that rises from a diamond shaped base.

A.P. Berg was a Danish company based in Assens on the island of Funen in the south of Denmark. Founded in the late 1950s they are particularly famous for their candlesticks and candle holders of various designs although they also produced flatware and some silver jewellery. They ceased trading in the early 1980s.

This four sconce candle holder is in very good condition with no dings, dents or plate loss and only superficial surface wear as you would expect after around 50 years. It securely holds four narrow candles or tapers and is a perfect size for a modern dining table or mantlepiece. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The candle holder is 25cm / 10" wide and stands 9.5cm / 3.75" high. The base is 8cm / 3.2" wide. It weighs 234g.

The underside of one sconce is stamped with the Berg Viking warrior over a B logo and the words SILVERPLATE BERG.DENMARK. The number 90 refers to the high quality of the silver plating.
