Description

This is a smart George V Sterling Silver Photo Frame. The circular frame has a visible picture size of 3 ins diameter. The silver front is moulded and the easel back and strut are plain wood.

The photo frame was made in Birmingham by William Adams and dates to 1921. William Adams registered his mark at Birmingham’s assay office in 1901 and operated from premises in Barr Street in the Jewellery Quarter. The firm produced a wide range of good quality silverware for personal and domestic use and remained in business into the late 1970s.

Condition is very good, with just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate after over 100 years of good service. The hinge and strut are in good order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The photo frame is 10.1cm / 3.9ins in diameter and 6.4cm / 2.5ins deep with the strut fully extended. It weighs 83.1g / 2.9oz.

The hallmarks, on the top rim of the frame, are a little rubbed but still okay to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmimngham, the date letter w for 1921 and the W.A makers' mark for William Adams Ltd.
