Jules of Paris bell-striking Carriage clock

Description
An early French carriage clock dating from c.1850 with typical 'Jules platform escapement' by Jules of Paris, a maker of great repute. The clock is yet to go through our workshops, but is nevertheless in fine condition.
The cast one-piece case is elaborately detailed with crossed ribbon and flowerhead ornament to the mouldings and a cast leaf scroll pattern base. The case will be regilded to restore its former glory.
Typically, the jewelled platform sits well recessed within the frame to accommodate the depth of the compensated balance on a blued steel helical hairspring fitted in a sub frame with a high bridge. It has a club-toothed lever escapement. Similar platforms were also used by Auguste and Bolviller of Paris, but are known as 'Jules-type platforms'.
The 8 day movement has an outside count wheel, striking the hours and the passing of the half hours on a bell. It is signed JULES A PARIS and numbered 146 on the backplate. Once overhauled, the clock will be guaranteed for 3 years.
The perfect white enamel dial is signed JULES A PARIS. The matching moon hands are very fine.
Height (handle up) : is 6 3/4 inches (17cms)
The clock is complete with its original leather carrying case in excellent condition.
