Description

Superb Antique Victorian Mahogany Scotch Chest of Drawers with secret compartment and dating from aorund 1880. It has a flared cornice top with deep serpentine shaped frieze above two serpentine shaped frieze drawers with carved rosette to the centre and to each side above carved corbal supports. There are four long graduating drawers all of which are pine lined with original turned mahogany knob handles with Mother of Pearl insets to the centre. It has carved corbal supports to each side of the deep shaped frieze base and stands on turned legs.
Behind the cornice top there is a lid that folds over to reveal a deep secret compartment for storage.
The chest separates into three sections for ease of transporting.

A superb chest In very good condition with a lovely deep rich colour and patination to the quality mahogany oozing all the charm and character of the period.
