Description

Description Offered for sale is this good set of ten Arts & Crafts oak dining chairs dating to about 1900. The set of ten oak dining chairs have a carved shaped back rail with vertical slats and shaped finials above drop-in seats newly reupholstered in a neutral fabric consistent with the period and standing on square tapered supports with stub feet. The backs of the chairs have a carved insignia - seven with the initials intertwined CWUDC and three CUDC. This is a fairly standard model but I have never seen a set with carved initials, when purchased the seats were covered in green rexine dating to the 50's with numbers up to 35 painted on the back suggesting that they were part of a much larger set. The set of ten oak dining chairs are in excellent showroom condition with all joints firm and have been cleaned, revived and waxed with seats reupholstered.
