Superb Antique Victorian Elm and Beech Smokers Bow, Captains Desk Chair C.1890
An excellent example of this well known chair, probably made in High Wycombe, the centre for chair making in England since the early 19th Century. One piece Elm seat with fabulous grain...a couple of age related shrinkage splits at the front which will not get worse and in my view add to the character of this incredibly comfortable chair. Lovely colour and patina, rock solid, no wobbles or worm...
Measurements approx: height to top of back rail 32", height to front of seat 18", seat width 20.5", seat depth 20.5", max width of arms 25.5".
