Description

This handsome 18th Century fire bucket, skilfully made from high quality thick leather, boasts a wonderful aged patina and makes an interesting, decorative piece.

Features studs down the side seam and also around the bottom edge. The original leather handle which is nice and sturdy is fitted to the top by the two brass ring fittings.

Buckets were the first means of defence against a fire during this period. Home owners and businesses purchased them from local saddlers or cobblers and kept them in convenient, readily-accessible places.

In excellent antique condition, with age related wear, scuffs, scrapes, cracks and all over wear.
