Description

A fabulous example of a late 16th / early 17th Century Dutch Armada Chest.

This rare example comes smaller than most, and features a fully working mechanism underneath the lid, in front of which sits a decorative metal plate, containing mythical creature motifs either side of the central lock assembly.

Two staples adorn the front of the chest, which also flank a central dummy lock. The smaller size of this particular chest makes it easier to manoeuvre, and enables more versatility when using either for display purposes or for actual use in the home.
