Cylinder

A beautiful and early London cylinder movement, in silver gilt pair cases.

MOVEMENT : Gilded cylinder movement with beautifully engraved and pierced balance cock and plate, a large diamond endstone, four square pillars and blued screws. Fully signed and numbered (3229). All in very fine condition and running well.

DIAL : White enamel, in fine condition, but with a light scratch from the centre to 4, and a light hairline across the top from 12 to 2. Gold hands.

INNER CASE : Silver gilt, hallmarks for London, 1770. Maker's mark WB.. Excellent condition throughout. The hinge is fine though the bezel doesn't snap shut. The high dome, bull's eye, crystal has a few light scratches but no chips.
There is a little wear to the gilding on the back and band where the silver shows through.

OUTER CASE : Silver gilt, with matching hallmarks to the inner. In good condition throughout. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes correctly. Again some wear to the gilding on the bezel and rims.
