A wonderful large medieval strap- end that would grace any collection.Showing a beautiful dark glossy patination with no damage or repair, circa 1300-1400s.
Strap-ends were used to decorate the end of a belt or girdle, an old term from the medieval period when belts were just worn around the waist but could hang virtually to the floor. Recently purchased from an old Suffolk collector who has since retired. Size - 5.7cm long X 4cm at it's widest point, scroll work and leaves decorate the item.
