Description

Early 19th.c. potboard Welsh dresser, form Carmarthenshire c.1800. Original plate rack with two shelves and 24 handmade iron hooks. Slim cornice with a delightful carved detail, well figured ash and elm backboards. Note the unusual curving rail reinforcing the back boards at the bottom edge. Base with a single plank top with a step shelf along the back edge with a raised lip to allow small plates to stand below the bottom shelf. Over three drawers with a scratch carved detail to the edge of the drawer fronts and Georgian pattern brass handles. Straight apron with a cockbeaded edge, raised on three turned front legs and square rear stiles over an open potboard display shelf with the original oak boards. Oak side panels. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
