Description

Vintage mid 20th.c. Persian tribal rug c.1960. Measuring 67" x 55" feet wide. Traditional Turkmen design from the nomadic Turkmen of North East Iran, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Featuring three row of 12 guls, a symbol specific to a particular tribal community, surrounded by multiple geometric borders. Hand knotted with a dense weave and short pile in deep red and a very dark blue with yellow, brown and white. With a thin fault or repair where the warp and weft are exposed. Otherwise good condition.
