Description

Long Persian rug from the city of Malayer in Iran c.1920. Measuring 56" wide by over 12 feet long. Hand woven with three diamond lozenges arranged against a dense floral/geometric ground (typical of Malayer rugs) within multiple borders. Quite heavily worn but in good condition and with a good even colour.
Sold together with the rug is paperwork from a carpet dealers in Essen Germany invoicing for the cleaning of the rug and estimating the age at 70 years (in 1993) and the value at 7000 DM (approx £2800).
