Description

Very impressive late 19th.c. Gothic revival carved oak box settle or hall seat c.1890. Tall panelled backrest featuring a row of blind lunette tracery over two sets of six panels carved with repeated Gothic and linen fold detail. Deep applied moulding to the top and chamfered edges to the surrounding rails and mullions. Straight arms with carved terminals and enclosed with pierced tracery panels below. Board seat lifting to reveal useful storage below for boots and shoes etc. Interesting carved decoration to the panels below the seat which feature a linen fold overlapping a flowering plant. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
