Description

Late 19th.c. oak coal scuttle c.1890. Originally intended for coal, it would also make an ideal box to hold kindling, fire lighters etc for a log burner. Sturdy oak box with a hinged front and removable metal liner with handles. Featuring an unusual chased brass panel featuring a raised design of a bird pursuing a butterfly. Large reeded brass handle, hinges and knob. Complete with brass shovel which fits into a holder on the rear of the box.
Dimensions: width 14″, depth 18″, height 16″.
