Description

Small walnut roll top writing desk c.1900. Open the tamboured roll to reveal a good sized work surface and fitted interior of pigeon holes, small stationery drawers and pen slides. Over a cupboard pedestal to the right with a single adjustable shelf inside. Left hand pedestal with three drawers (the bottom drawer being double height for large files etc) automatically held closed when the roll is closed. Plus writing slides to the top of both pedestals and a larger drawer above the kneehole (width 18″ x height 26″). Attractive carved detail to the door and drawer fronts with original beautifully cast gilded brass handles and escutcheons. Shaped raised and fielded panels to the sides, flat panels to the rear, all in solid walnut. Shaped and moulded apron at the front and sides, with further carved detail to the front and feet. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied. Disassembles into three pieces (plus backboard) for delivery.
