Description

Beautiful mid 18th.c. North Wales cwpwrdd tridarn or three piece cupboard c.1740. Canopy top display section with ogee cornice over a pair of crisply turned columns to the front and panelled sides and rear. Middle section with large turned droppers and three small doors each featuring lovely ogee shaped, raised and fielded door panels. Locks to all three doors, the centre door opening to reveal the original fitted interior of six small spice drawers plus two hidden compartments, a rare feature. Base section with three small drawers over a large two door cupboard. Moulded drawer fronts and shaped door panels repeated from the middle section and used again as a slimmer version on the fixed centre panel. Note how the timbers are quarter sawn to reveal the medullary rays in the grain. Oak panelled sides and rear, oak drawer linings and floor boards. A fantastic example of the form, good small size, very well preserved and lovely mellow colour. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
