Description

Beautiful George III elm dresser base c.1790. A superb example of the form, quiet rare being in solid elm throughout. The top is made from a single board of particularly good grain with a simple moulded edge. Over three drawers with a straight apron and applied ogee mouldings above and below. Raised on tapering square stiles with a neat little shaped bracket where they join the bottom edge at the front. Square side panels with simple moulding to the surrounding frame. Elm back board and drawer linings. Note the construction of the drawers with the bases fixed in place with small oak pegs rather than nails. Period replacement handles and with repairs to the drawer fronts, otherwise excellent condition. Fabulous colour and patina, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
Dimensions: width 71″, depth 17″, height 31½”.
