Description

Very handsome mid 19th.c marble top and walnut console or hall table c.1840. Uncluttered design free of almost any applied decoration highlighting instead the materials used. Unusually figured inch-thick grey marble top over a square apron with walnut veneers of exceptional grain laid in a symmetrical pattern and featuring useful full length drawer in the right hand end. Raised on turned columns, repeated as square pilasters at the rear, both with crisp moulded detail at the base. On a shaped plinth with a concave front edge, all with matching walnut veneers. Very good condition and lovely honey colour to the wood. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
