A very scarce ushak carpet covered howard club armchair. Not to be confused with the so called victorian covered carpet chairs which copy oriental patterns done in velvet material not actual carpets. This is a genuine late 19th century turkish ushak carpet and this particular pattern of design as a carpet costs thousands (5-15k) depending on the size. Probably never to be repeated or copied by anyone so it is a unique example of it's type if you like this particular style. It is equally comfortable as it is but there is a feather seat cushion supplied if needed. Serial numbers to rear left leg but castors are later non-howard replacements. It was extremely difficult to upholster being a piled carpet but I think love it or hate it there isn't any denying it's looks and am sure if robert kime was alive god rest his soul he would have approved!
