Antique caucasian karabagh village rug. Signed name by weaver. 194cm x 117cm. South caucasian,azerbaijan probably made in or around the town of shusha. Late 19th/early 20th century. Have found a similar medallion rug in a publication. There is a tribesman,probably the weaver and a name in the upper right side. Notice the two birds and an animal figure with elongated beaks,pair next to the tribesman and the animal figure right side middle. Nice blue colours with a salmon field colour and tribal side bindings in different colours. Some of the dark brown a little lower in places. Professionally bound end fringes and some rebinding of the dark brown side bondings. All in all for the money a very desirable rug. 6 foot 4 inches by 3 foot 10 inches. 194cm x 117cm.
