Stunning large 19th century Chinese bronze brush pot, c1870.

It is well cast and heavy for its size at almost 1kg. The pot is beautifully decorated in relief with birds, foliage, flowers, Chinese script and parts of the decoration have been picked out and highlighted in silver and gilt to give contrast and depth.

The bronze has taken on great colour/patina following years of handling and use and there are character marks to the base.
