Large Antique late 19th century Chinese bronze statue of a toad sitting on a pile of coins, c 1890. In Chinese mythology Jin Chan, translated as 'wealth beckoning toad' is said to appear during the full moon near businesses and homes that will receive good news, often wealth related, and represents a popular feng shui charm for prosperity. This is a heavy (3.4kg), good quality casting with fine detail to the coins, features, skin of the frog etc. The toad has red glass or bead eyes.
