Description

Lovely mid 18th century central European (possibly Germanic) axe head, c1750. This great piece of military history was listed in a Thomas Del Mar auction, Olympia,30/6/21, lot 303. They are a highly regarded specialist in arms, armour and militaria and catalogued it as a "Small 18th century central European Axe head". I have attached a copy of the entry in the first photograph and the catalogue is still available online. This example is of typical form with a curved blade and tapering shaft and is clearly hand hammered. There is a rectangular socket in the middle to enable it to be attached to a shaft. Condition is very good given its age with only very minor wear. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact me if you would like to view the item or have any questions.
