This auction is for a high quality coronation plate for the crowning of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. It was made by the well collected and wonderful Shelley, Late Foley pottery factory of Staffordshire, England.

Joseph Ball Shelley started the Shelley Potteries in the 1820's and was very prolific, producing beautiful and resilient strong china wares in Staffordshire. In 1862, his works became known as Wileman & Co. when he entered into partnership with Henry Wileman at the Foley China Works in Fenton, Staffordshire. The pottery continued producing very high and quality English Pottery wares until it was sold to Allied English Potteries in 1966. This piece is dated 1911, before WWII. There are no chips, cracks or repairs, and it is in beautiful condition.

This 108 year piece is decorated with transferware design, armorial coats of arms and sharp and rich colours, a testament to the quality of wonderful Shelley / late Foley Brand. It is in very clean condition, and was found in Newton Abbot, Devon, England with a collection of royalty or royal plates. This collection of items is being listed on our site daily.
