Description

#AD078:

The firm of Keeling & Co produced quality English pottery earthenwares from 1886, and were well known for their early blue and white china. In 1886 they moved to Dale Hall Works in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England under the tutelage of company founders Joseph Keeling, George Keeling, Wilson Keeling and Thomas Keeling Rhodes, who retired in 1892.

The mark on bottom of this Keeling ladies or ladie's vanity box reads:
Losol Ware
Keeling & Co Ltd. (Ltd. was in use after 1909)
Burslem
Made In England (with a royal crown)

This is a beautiful old Edwardian era art nouveau purple or lavender dresser box or potted lid, marked Losol Ware. This popular Losol Ware line ran from 1912-1936. This piece dates from about 1915 WWI era, and features a luscious purple pattern in a red and green palette. It is embellished with a running purple trim and bulbous flower. These Losol boxes are hard to find. We have 2 her, as we seek them out. Search for the other on Antiques Atlas.

Condition is wonderful, some gold gilding worn off edge from hand use is the only fault we can mention. Click images to see condition in very close up and movable views. It was found in Chudleigh, Devon, England.
