Description

#AD066:

A wonderful Victorian aesthetic movement era chunky English pottery ironstone flow blue transferware tea tray or tea stand. The colours are rich and dark deep navy blue and white. It features a flow blue chinoiserie transfer ware oriental inspired pattern.

The repeating transferware pattern depicts a proud walking bird that appears to be an oriental peacock, and the same bird in flight over tropical foliage and palms around the inner edge. The outer edge depicts a handsome illustrative running pattern of leaves and round circular objects, are they biscuits!?

The condition is clean and deeply fired, with signs of general glaze wear in the place where the teapot sat, see photos. There is a very small yellow stain seen in first photo. Overall, it displays beautifully and has no chips, cracks or restoration. We'd love to identify this old pattern, if you have any information write Debra here. It was found in Tavistock, Devon, England.
